Happy Friday Everyone!
Last weekend's event was incredible, and we also learned a couple of lessons that we want to pass along for our future events.
- Please bring a mask along with you in your car. Whenever you have your window down at a station, we ask that you please have your mask on.
Please stay in your car. It's so wonderful to be able to see each other again, but please talk through open car windows with masks on. If you have a lot to catch up on, please call each other or arrange to meet up elsewhere.
Please, please, please refrain from reaching out to touch anyone. This is so difficult when we've been isolated away from our friends for so long and it's an automatic response sometimes to reach out to shake a hand or touch a shoulder. And it's even harder when someone else reaches out their hand to us first. At this time of social distancing, we must do our best to keep our distance for everyone's safety.
The Prayer Sheet is provided for you to read through on your own or with your family while waiting to receive Communion. Or you may listen to Fr John's recording that he sent out earlier today.
When receiving Holy Communion, please follow this procedure to ensure the health and safety of participants and volunteers:
Have your mask on when approaching the EM Station,
Place your vehicle in Park,
Cup your hands (in case of wind) and place them at the window so the EM doesn't have to reach inside your car,
Receive the host in your cupped hands,
Wait for the EM(s) to step back from both sides of the vehicle,
Lower your mask and consume the host,
Then you may drive away.
I'm certain some of this may come across as tedious and unnecessary to a few of you. Please know that we are just attempting to follow the guidelines set forth in order that the church may provide Holy Communion to you in as safe a manner as possible for everyone involved.
Let us all pray for one another other, that we all remain safe and healthy! And please also pray for our Priests and Deacons as they tend their flocks as best they can under the circumstances.
